OUR PROGRAMS

We have crafted a number of programs after a long deliberation with major players in the cultural sector performing artists, choreographers, musicians, dancers, actors, writers, this program is designed to measure the level of comprehension, to solve equations , memorize things, and recall lessons; to measure the ability to maintain peace with others, keep to time, be responsible, be honest, respect boundaries, be humble, genuine and considerate and also to measure the ability to build a network of friends and maintain it over a long period of time

We have collaborated with local and international institutions to produce unique and bespoke products, while also facilitating various art events.

 We want to ensure that art lovers, seekers, and producers have the best products to express their passion. We also encourage giving out various trainings and workshops encouraging capacity building.

Additionally, we serve as consultants in art development and content development for firms and individuals alike. We like to share our knowledge of art with our communities while also working with artists to generate attraction and high value for their products.

Through the well conducted and planned sequences of sessions the programs targets to stimulate societies in all the four major elements of human development namely:

1) Intelligence Quotient (IQ),

2) Emotional Quotient (EQ),

3) Social Quotient (SQ), and

4) Adversity Quotient (AQ)

  1. Drum circles and drum making; each participant engage in music making using drums and any available element. Groups of people play in turns and are guided by our musicians, they learn at the same time enjoy themselves, it is so much useful in team building and concentration.

It helps in coordination and if repeatedly continued it assists in mental stability. Groups can vary from 20 persons to 40 persons depending on age.

  1. Introduction to African dance and enjoyment of the celebration of the energy of creativity. In with the intention to create a festive mood we entice our students to get engaged deeper with the beat thus stimulating their desire to shake their bodies in a well guided way. After mesmerizing the internal understanding of this art style, students start to produce captivating and soothing music at the same time, young and old are persuaded into a performance for quite a memorable moment of a lifetime.
  2. Communities are taken through the telling of positive stories, narrations of our history, the diverse cultures and wisdom of the ancestors, the performance activities guided by the story, tell those wonderful discoveries, civilization and wisdom of our people.

This well-crafted program with experienced performers and educators of art is a master piece that is enjoyed by communities of all ages, it is educative, informative and at the same time entertaining. 

Each group is taken through intensive training of 45 minute and then another 45 minutes to transform their lessons into a short performance. This one-day training and performance lasts for 3 hours with a theme of “Culture in diversity”

The strategy of using participatory methods through the application of performative media that are familiar to communities may prove the role of creative work for development and its roots in the ”philosophy of empowerment ”as a dynamic tool in providing means of exploring and addressing relations between people of different categories in status, racial, health or education.

ADOPT A DRUM
Want to give a helping hand so we can keep this good work going? Adopt a drum and help the center and hereby the kids in the Nairobi slums to continue giving them classes.
All percussion instruments and drums are handmade by the Bakayola Arts Center. This means from the skin to the carving of the wood. Wanne have a instrument at home to share this story or even try to use it as Art object? Adopt a drum? Ask us!
